Expertise

For our brand KNZ® we continuously look for further development, this can be a new recipe or a new target group. Based on literature search and scientific data, we start discussions with professionals, like professors from universities (Wageningen and Utrecht in the Netherlands and the university in China).
The new recipe proposal will be tested in lab-scale first. In this development phase, we conduct tests about the strengths and behavior of the recipes. Also a stable test is part of the total product development phase to check the behavior of the lick in the circumstances where it is used, in the stable or on the field/meadow, and to know more about the consumption.

Importance of licks

This study shows:

  • salt intake and output is variable per cow
  • 9 of the 12 cows have a lack of salt, as their output is higher than their intake
  • an average salt supply does not meet the individual need
  • feed and additional mineral supplies are not always adequate to cover the individual animal requirements
  • licks are essential for a sufficient intake

KNZ® scientifically proven

  • in the study (4 months) cows were divided into 2 groups
    • group 1: cows with normal feeding pattern, including mineral mix
    • group 2: cows with normal feeding pattern, including mineral mix, with free access to KNZ® licks
  • the group with access to KNZ® licks increase the milk yield with 5,2% compare to the group with no access to KNZ® licks
